As a gas engineer you will be called upon to service the appliances and equipment relied upon by millions of UK homes. Requiring strict compliance with regulations, only well trained and qualified engineers are able to fill these important job roles. And more are needed everyday.

Work Activities

Working as a gas engineer you will be required to leverage both technical skill and customer service abilities. Trusted to work within people’s homes and represent the values of employers. No one job will be the same.

  • Installing gas appliances and systems
  • Maintenance and health checks
  • Finding and repairing leaks
  • Carrying out detailed audits
  • Documenting faults and tampering
  • Educating customers about gas safety and energy efficiency
  • Quote for work or sell additional services

You will also likely require a driving licence but employers often supply a vehicle and any required equipment.

Hours & Remuneration

Working hours are normally 8am - 5pm, Monday to Friday while some employers require emergency cover on shift rotation. But these shifts can offer lucrative bonuses.

A qualified technician can earn over £30,000 a year.
